Since the launch of the Oversized Sneaker in 2015, the house of Alexander McQueen has been exploring exaggerated soles and clean cuts, a style carried at the time by Sarah Burton. The Tread Slick is its heir: the same science of volumes, the same dialogue between graphic minimalism and visual impact.

The shoe manifests from the house
From workwear to urban icon. Appearing at the turn of 2019-2020 as an evolution of the Tread Boot (A/W 2018-2019), the Tread Slick transposes the spirit of the rugged work boot, robustness, and utilitarian look into a lighter sneaker, first in canvas, then released in seasonal versions like this raffia weaving. Designed for the beautiful season, it features an oversized sole that interacts with a more fluid upper, establishing a contrast that has become its signature.
A pillar line at Alexander McQueen. The house presented the Tread Slick as a "hybrid" model: the soul of a canvas (or raffia) sneaker resting on a remarkable technical sole, immediately recognizable. In 2020, Alexander McQueen even invited photographers from around the world to interpret it, confirming its status as a contemporary icon of the brand. This singular aesthetic of generous volumes, functional details, and noble materials has established the Tread Slick among the enduring lines of the McQueen wardrobe.
The choice of raffia. In this version, the woven raffia interacts with calf leather accents and a rugged sole. This material/volume mix highlights the attention given to artisanal craftsmanship and offers a summery interpretation of the model, without sacrificing the sculptural presence characteristic of McQueen.
